CAPETOWN, March 22. Sir Lionel Phillips, speaking at the annual meeting of the Chamber of . Alines, Johannesburg, said the gold mining industry on the Rand had reached its zenith and was now languishing. Several mines were on the verge of closing down. Shareholders in low grade mines had little to hope cfor. He warned Labour to avoid frivolous strikes, which destroyed confidence and accentuated the difficulties.
