A lire occurrml at 2.30 this morning in the warehouse of Briscoe and Coy. ■ Ltd, hardware merchants, at the corner of Gore and Customs Streets, j The whole of the valuable stock was i destroyed or damaged by fire and , water. The damage and insurance are not yet available, but will run into big figures. Briscoe’s was a four storey brick building. The fire apparently started at the hack in a. staircase adjacent to the lift well, and practically swept the whole building. The Brigado’s task was hopeless from the be- ] ginning. j
