The weather was excellent, hut the attendance was helow expectations. The wicket was good, hut the outfield was far from perfect. Tlie Australians were without the services of Hornihrook, who was indisposed. The bowl inf! had no terrors for the Canterbury men and of five dismissed four were caught and one out leg before. Blunt played a chanceless innings being at the wicket DO minutes. Hayes . played carefully. Rage (Roys’ High School), gave a very credit able display.
