Air Birwell, in a policy speech, said the uncompromising attitude of the Government towards direct action had the most satisfactory results financially. The position of the State was sound, but the outlook was discouraging. The public debt had increased during tV last three years by six hundred thousand sterling. Although arranging m London for a loan, the policy w *is to borrow in Australia. It was proposed to increase the salaries of members from £2OO to £4OO annually, the Premier's to £1.500 and other Ministers to £1.200. BANK ROBBERY. AIELBOURNE. March 9.
