HOKITIKA FIRE BRIGADE
A special meeting was held oil Tuesday evening. - Present Supt. liraddon, Dept. Supt. Davidson and 20 members. Supt. Braddon slated the meeting was called as it was necessary to elect a delegate to represent the Brigade at the forthcoming conference lu be held at Napier, and he asked fur .nomination. Foreman Will ace proposed that Dept. Supt. Davidson lip appointed. Seconded by Engineer Findlay. There were no other nominations and the motion was earth'd unanimously. Dept. Supt. Davidson thanked the members for electing him and stated he would represent the Brigade to the Lot of bis ability. The Order Papers were then read and the delegate instructed as to the wishes of the Brigade in voting on the various remits.
Fireman H. Sweeney wrote stating that owing to his residing so fat fiom the station he was unable to attend and tendered bis resignation (alter U years sendee). —Received and accepted with regret and the Secretary was ir stmeted to convey tlie hearty thanks of the Brigade for bis past valuable ser-
vices. Fireman C.B. Ross proposed that M' E. Irving be elected to till the vacancy Seconded by Fireman Wallace and e-r----ried. Messrs P. Ross, H. Davidson and A\ . karcourt were proposed a probationary members.
Supt. Braddon proposed a vote ol thanks to ex-Firemnn Smith for a'photo of himself when a member c.l the Brigade 50 years ago. « Foreman R. Ross moved that t-it Secretary be instructed to insure the members of the team competing at the Demonstration. Seconded bv Engineer Findlay and carried. Engineer Mclntosh asked the Brigade to consider the advisability of liaving a conference or demonstration bold in Hokitika Foreman TU Ross moved that if sufficient financial support was given that this Brigade invite tin' U.F.B.A. to hold their next DFmontration in Hokitika, the invitation tbo given at the next Conference. Seconded by Foreman AVallace and carried The meeting then adjourned.
