Some armed men held the approaches to Wellington Quay, Dublin, while eight men looted a jeweller’s shop of £3OOO worth of goods. Joseph Jordon, rate collector at Bnllagaderreen, who was kidnapped three months ago, and who claimed £10,003 compensation, was awarded £3210 on the grounds of personal inquiries and , damage to furniture. His captors forced him to sign cheques for £7OO and £BOO which were cashed. BLOCKHOUSES STARTED. "LONDON, Feb. 10 There has now been a blockhouse system established in Ireland over a wide area in Western County Kerry. A round up of people in the mountains there is now proceeding.

Following on the wounding of a constable at Abbeydornev, in Ireland, the Crown forces burnt down eleven houses at night. The military brought the occupants —including the women—out ot the houses in their night attire.
The inhabitants were panic stricken. They took refuge in some neighbouring country houses. The damage done amounts to many thousands of pounds.
