The big attraction on Friday night is a Paramount masterpiece, “The Copperhead,” or “Not Understood,” in 7 reels, starring Lionel Barrymore and an all star cast. Who cannot feel the divine power of “The Copperhead,” or

“Not Understood” ; who cannot thrill to its superb tug of emotion : who cannot leave its viewing a better man o woman, hoy or girl, has no heart nor mind nor soul. It is a beautiful, wonderful picture—a photoplay that reaches the heart and tugs at the eimi lions, oTie that lias moved great crowds to tears and cheers. Lionel Barrymore comes from the stage and gives a su perh portrayal of the rob' of “Not Understood.” Mr Shanks, whose son when dying, scorned him, whose wife, tlie love of his youth, turned from him as from a thing unclean and died with out saying good-bye. Act a nobler man never lived. Mr Barrymore’s acting is masterful because of its naturalness. His transition from early manhood t old age is a revelation. To him the chief honor for the drama’s eflectiveuess may he accorded. Charles -Maign tie’s staging of the piece shows technical shill and artistic understanding, and credit must be given also to Augustus Thomas, who created the play trom Frederick Landis’ story. “The Copperhead” will he released as a Para-mount-Artcraft special. It is a truly sreat picture. The support is a Mach Srnuett comedy.
