A strong party rushed an armoured car escorting a King’s messenger from Dublin Castle. Two attackers were wounded and arrested, the remainder
escaping. One hundred armed masked men raided the Great Northern goods-yards at Dublin. After rounding up the staff they cut the telephone wires and escaped.

LONDON, Feb. 9. In pursuance of new military orders, all males between the ages of 17 and 50 years in a number of the. towns arfd villages in West Cork, which is a. martial law area, have been required to form themselves into platoons so they may act as “civil guards.” They are ordered to prevent, and to give immediate notice of ambushes and intended attacks on the Crown Forces.
These guards will be held respomsible if any attacks and ambushes occur. The males at Bantry, Glengariff, and Kcalkill, and at other places, are also being mustered and enrolled. Those refusing to serve are being arrested.
