AN EMPHATIC PROTEST.
SYDNEY, February 2
A Prohibition rally at the Town Hall passed a resolution of emphatic protest- against the? postponement of the referendum, declaring that the action was unconstitutional, undemocratic, end an example of lawlessness to >e strongly condemned.
A feature of the demonstration was the reading by the chairman of a letter from Mr W. A. Holman, wishing the meeting success, supporting them and condemning the Government, which had flouted the law.

In explanation of the fact that the tesult of the Seamen’s ballot will not be available for three weeks, it is stated that the papers from all the States must go to Sydney before the counting commences. It is expected I lint a deputation will wait on Mr Hughes this week, to endeavour to effect an immediate resumption of work.
