CHALLENGE TO GO-SLOW. AUCKLAND, January 21
Colonel Holgate,. liquidator of Kiripaka mine lias decided that the mink shall be closed permanently "'from Monday, unless the go-slow policy is abandoned. This will throw fifty men out of employment and involve a loss of 180 tuns of coal daily. A FATAL FIRE. THREE CHILDREN BURNT TO DEATH. ROTORUA, January 2.1. A fatal fire occurred last niglit. A house of four rooms was destroyed and three children->-10, 8, and 6 years of age—lost their lives. "The father, Uita Maknia is dead and the mother has married again. A sister aged twenty was in charge. She left the children in bed and went to the pictures. Nobody seemed to know the children were inside. One body was found under the bed. The origin of the fire is a mystery. There was no insurance.
