MAGISTRATE'S COURT, HOKITIKA

Police v. Joshua Entwistle, a charge that at Dunedin, on Jan Bth., 1921 lie did steal the sum of £l2, the property ot John P. Hall. ‘ The accused elected to be dealt with summarily and pleaded guilty. Sergt McCarthy stated the accused at present was a seaman on the s.s. Kini. The stolen articles had been secured and the deceased had offered to pay the sum ot £2 10s that had been incurred. He was arrested at Grcyniouth last night and was brought down to Hokitika- for the Magistrate to deal with the charge. Accused stated he was a native of Derbyshire, and had been drinking. ! His Worship convicted and inflicted a lino of £3 and to repay C2 l()s costs involved in sale of goods taken. 'I he articles stolen to he refunded to the persons they were stolen from. In default one month’s imprisonment in Grey mouth gaol.
