It is understood Mr Wilson will finally decide whether O’Callaghan will remain in United States. It is indicated the State and Labour Departments disagreed as to O’Callaghan’s status. Mr Davis ordered his deportation and the Labour Department held O’Callaghan s claim that lie ws a political refugee, is valid. Mr Davis pointed out that O’Callaghan could not be a political refugee since De Valera voluntarily returned to the country from which O’Callaghan came. O’Callaghan will testify in his own defence on the 13th inst.

Mr Daniels announced the naval court of inquiry will investigate the details of the balloonists’ flight. Many reports have come to Washington intimating the airmen planned the journey in the hope of realising a considerable sum of money by writing a book of adventures. JAPAN’S TRADE.. (Received This Day at 8.30 a.m.) WASHINGTON January 12. Tokio telegrams state that Japan s exports in 1920 reached a total value of 1,928,864,000 yen and imports 2,320712,000. -

It is learned here that Mr Morris and Shidehara are discussing in addition to the existing Japo-American commercial treaty of a section designed to protect the property riglits of the Japanese in America. It is understood the conversations thus far have not involved the question of allowing civil rights to Japanese, such as naturalization and suffrage.
