They are (HO players competing in the rink championships, comprised of 160 (earns. Matches are being played in 16 sections on lfl greens, and in each section there are 10 teams (live games). Two games of 25 heads each are being played per day for four days, when the seel ion winners will play 21 heads and three games per day. For the pairs there are 180 entries, and for the singles 108 entries. These constitute a. record for Australasia. The President of the Dominion Association (Mr T .Bush, Wellington) made a brief opening speech at the headquarters (Wellington Club’s pavilion), and the Mayor of Wellington (Mr J. P. Luke) officially declared the tournament open. Mrs C. a daughter-in-law of the president, threw the jack.
A! sixteen greens are in very fine condition, and the tournament opens most auspiciously. The largest tournament in the history of Australian howling was opened today and will he continued for three weeks. It is the eighth annual championship of the Dominion howling association. In link championships 610 players are engaged comprising 160 (earns for pairs, 186 singles and 108 players. At present only inter matches are, being played in each of sixteen sections. There are ten teams and each team plays two games of 25 heads each. Alter eight games have been played, those who continue to play will he section winners. After the section play is complete a full two life system will ho applied to all teams left in, and each team when twice beaten drops out. The first and second rounds were completed to-day.
