MELBOURNE, This Day. The trans-continental railway during the past year was run at a loss of £42,640. The total loss to date on the line .which cost over seven million, has been £746,000. CRICKET CONFERENCE. MELBOURNE. This Day. A conference between Cricktet Board of Control and representatives of the English and Australian elevens agreed regarding the conditions governing the next series of test matches in England.
