WELLIN',GTCN, Pec, 28. , The Arbitration Court has awarded .copies and stewards a bomjs pf 10s per montji and cadets 3s fid per month as against the application for £2 per mouth all round. The court considers that cooks and stewards by reason of several increases have kept pace with the e.Qst of livingThe majority of the court were inclined to dispiiss the application for the bonus but decided to grant a bpijqs slightly less than that awarded ip industries properly so called, inasmuch as the men are provided with food and accommodation by the employers. Therefore the latter- should not be compelled tp pay fhe full bonus as they l already bear a portion of-tlie increase cost of living. The Court has not always recognised the same principle, but the question is open for consideration in. future eases as for instance tlie hotel waiters’ ease. GISBORNE, Dec. .28.
