Tlie death is recorded, on tlie 25th inst,, of a well-known Runanga resident in the person of Mr J. Whitesmith, tailor. Deceased, who was 50 years of ago ,wns a native of England.
On Monday a pretty wedding was solemnised at Holy Trinity Church > Greymouth, when Miss Ruby Skelton, daughter of Mr J. Skelton, was united to Mr Albert Micliel, second son of Mrs J .Michel. The ceremony was performed by Rev Mr Farnell.
There are more deaths by drowning in New Zealand, in proportion to the popu lation, than in any other part of the British Empire (states the “Feilding Star”). During the ten years 1909-18 the deaths by drowning in New Zealand wero 1635.
The death of Mr Edgar James Low took place on the 26th instant, at the Grey River Hispital. The deceased was forty years of age, and was a native of Notown. He is survived by one son, his wife having predeceased him some six years ago.
At the Greymoutli Magistrate's Court on Monday a man named John Morrison was remanded on a charge of theft fro a dwelling. C. Quarterfliain, charged with attempted suicide and trespassing on his wife’s premises during the currency of a separation order, was remanded. Two men charged with being drunk were fined 10s each.

Wallace, J. Gilbert, Higgott, Taylor, Barr and others. Complimentary references wero made to the local Club on the successful day’s sport and the excellent conduct off the meeting. Messrs McGregor and Evans replied, and the success of sister clubs was proposed by the former. The visitors expressed uniform appreciation of their reception and treatment at Hokitika, and wished the Club a long period of succoss.
