LATE LOCALS.
At the Wardens Court this morning, a special refercnco was made by tho Warden and Counsel in connection with the recommencling of the grant of an amalgamation of claims by the Rimu Gold Dredging Coy Ltd. It was stated that this was the first application dealt with under the recent Mining Act Amendment. Mr Murdoch complimented the Warden ,on the fact that he was the first warden to den! with an application under the Act and mentioned that tho Company had spent upwards of £60,000 on the area and were erecting a dredge that would cost £IIO,OOO. The Warden stated that he was satisfied that the recent amendment was a very necessary one. In this instance he had 'recently had an opportunity of viewing the scene of their operations, and it "could at once lie seen *bat the Company moan business, and they deseived every possiblo encouragement. He trusted that success would he achieved, recognising the great value success would mean to the dIVnG and the dredging industry of the Dominion generally.
