BRUCE BAY BANDING
Air Seddon, Al. P. is in receipt of the following letter from the Private Secretary to the Minister of Marine, dated Bth. inst., relative to the above work, for.yhicli there is a parliamentary vote of £1,300 to construct a landing and jetty by linking Flower Pot rock in the Bay with tlio mainland :
Dear Sir,—l am desired by the Hon. Sir AVilliapi Herries to acknowledge lie receipt of your letter of the oth. inst, with further reference to your request that the jetty atßruce Bay, • South Westland be constructed as soon as possible, and to inform you that Sir William has given instructions that an early report bp supplied him. As soon as he is in a position to come to a decision you will again he written to on the subject. On tii c same subject the Organiser of the Canterbury Progress League has written as follows to the County Clerk : I.ii reference to the erection of the Bruce Bay Landing Stage to which the suppqrt of thp League lias been recently afforded, I have received a letter from the Minister’s private secretary, advising that the Minister has given instruction? for an early report to lie supplied him. He has promised to communicate with me again on the subject tlio moment a decision lias been arrived at.
The -matter will not be allowed to stand, however, as in the course of the neyt week or two, I will again write lo tin* Minister reminding him of the . urgency of proceeding with the work. May I suggest that you also communicate with the Minister, and I will advise Afr Pilkington to do likewise on lielmlf of his Committee.
