Bad Fon The Country. The Discharged Soldiers’ Loan will he floated—that has been assured by the extension of the note issue. None the less, the inflation of tile note issue is bad for the country. Even this mistake could be overlooked if there were not numerous other blazing indiscretions; such, for instance, as the chartering of ships for carrying timber, and the opening of timber yards. Mr Massey has been urged again and again to moderate the expenditure, and he has replied by advising the people to economise. ‘ The Reform Government’s reformed methods of finance ate going to have a peculiar effect on the country in the not very distant future. —Auckland "Observer.”
