(Reuter’s Telegram MODIFYING TURKISH TREATY. (Received this day at 12.25 n.m) LONDON, December 9. Tlje possibility of a modification of the Turkish Treaty is indicated by a joint meeting of tile financial and fo- ' reign affairs committee of the 1' reneli Chamber, at which M. Leygues is reported to have declared in favour of such a modification. M. Leygufes expressed the coqyiction that,a complete Anglo-French agreement on the Turkish question will he shortly reached on the basis of a (jiodifieation of the treaty. INDIAN ELECTIONS. . DELHI, December 9. Wild scenes occurred in connection with the council elections at Lahore. Non-co-operatives roughly handled voters and assaulted several candidates, preventing them from recording many votes. The latter were chased. They stoned one honorary Indian magistrate and attempted to raid his house. The Magistrate’s son fired a revolver and wounded three boys. Police dispersed the mob.
