ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. AN EASIER MARKET. (By Telegraph. —Special to Guardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs Matson and Co. report as follows regarding tbeir stock sale yesterday:—
Store sheep.—There wak a largo ysir ing for this time of the. year, mostly wethers, which comprised a good number from the Chathnms. The tone of the market all roiiiid except for best forward sorts, was decidedly easier and in the faco of the continued dry spell, is likey to get worse. All sales were hard to make. Rest wethers 26s to 30s 9d, others 21s to 25s 6d; 2 tooth wethers 15s 6d to 21s; hettef sorts, 245. Two tooth ewes 20s 6d to 24s 6d, _ few good ones making more. All woolly sheep were practically unsaleable. Unless wo get rain in the near future the prospects are anything bdt good. Mutton.—The 'yarding was a good deal larger than last week and easier alt round, the market opened Weakly and eased as the sale progressed, especially for ewes and lighter wethers. Best wethers were hot so bad. The continued dry weather is bringing sheep forward for sale. A good number of Chatham sheep were offering. Best Wethers 35s to 38s 6d, a few shorn sheep making 40s to 455; prime 80s to 345; light an dinferior 26s to 29s 3d. Ewes wefe in the same proportion. A fajr number of sheep were withdrawn. Store Cattle.—Another large yarding and the quality generally was better, but the demand was dull, and all sales hard to make. 3 and 4-yeoir old bullocks £9 15s to £io 10s; bigger sorts to £ll 10s; 18-mos to 2yr. £5 15s to £8 5s- yearling £3 7s 6d to. £4 15s; good fresh cows £5 5s to £7 10s. The tone of the market in the face of the dry spell was not too good. Beef—Another fairly large yarding and quite enough for butchers’ requirements. An exceedingly nice quality was yarded and the tone of the tone of the market was distinctly easier, especially towards the end of the sale. Best steers £23 to £25 12s 6d; prime £l9 to £2l 15s; medium £l3, 15s to £18; light'and unfinished £lO to £l3. Cows and heifers were in the same proportion. ...... .
