SYDNEY, Dec. 8. 11l addition to some strong press condoriinatioh tlie Bill for increasing members salaries (iri accordance with J udge Edniond’s report) is meeting with much opposition at tlie second reading stage in the Assembly. The Progressive (Farmers) Party liave notified they will vote against it. 'Bin's enables many Nationalists to oppose the “grab”" without having first to consult the electors on the subject. One Opposition argument is that a new idea lias arisen in regard to the position of a riiember of Parliament, who is now looked upon as a man who obtains bis -'livelihood from bis position in Parliament,' instead of being a riiaii who served his country for patriotic purposes, whereby the whole tone of Parliament is being lowered.
