FREEZING WORKERS’ DISPUTE. GISBORNE, Nov 26. At a meeting of the Poverty Bay District Freezers’ Union, called to discuss" the dispute with the freezing companies, there was an attendance of 200 members. The following resolution was passed: “That the inenibers of tjie Union decide that they will not accept the management until the employers agree to meet the Federation, with a view to obtaining a settlement of tjie dispute.” Killing locally has been fixed to start next Wednesday. TURF PERJURY CASE. ' ’ WANGANUI, Noy. 26. The second trial of F. S. Easton, a well-known liorse owner, charged with perjury, was concluded to-day. A verdict of “not guilty” was returned by the jury this evening.
GAMBLING CONDEMNED
INVERCARGILL, Nov. 26,
The Methodist Synod of Otago and Southland to-day adopted resolutions, “viewing with concern the prevalence of gambling, and the apparent failure of men in prominent positions to recognise the gambling spirit as undermining moral character and slowing industry ; also protesting against any increase of facing permits.”
Tlie Methodist Conference adopted a resolution warning the people against the perils of spiritualism.

DECORATION FOR MR MASSEY WELLINGTON, Nov. 26.
Tlie Prime Minister to-day received a cablegram informing him that tin King of the Belgians has been pleased to confer upon him the decoration o ; Grand Officer De Cordre De La Cour onne De Belgique, “in recognition ti help rendered to Belgium in time ol liar.”
The cablegram came from the Belgian Consul in Sydney, who mentioned that he expected to visit New Zealand in January, and invest Mr Massey with the decoration.
GOVERNOR VISITING. FIELDING, Nov. 26,
Yesterday the Governor-General vasal'. Wanganui, and Lord'and Lady Jellieoe paid their first official visit to Feifiling this afternoon. Thorough enthusiasm was displayed, the town being gaily decorated. Their Excellencies were met at the railway station by Hon D. H. Guthrie, Minister of the Crown and officially received by Mayor Harfoif anil Borough Councillors. A loyal address was read and presented to the Governor. "After this ceremony their Excellencies were motored to the principal points of interest of the town and left by train for Palmerston.

Campbell M.P., presiding, considered the Gabby appeal against suspension by Wanganui Association and unanimously decided to confirm the'suspension. " ’ SWIMMING. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 27. The New Zealand Swimming Association is advised Miss Bleibtney, Olympic champion, will four the Dominion m January, if financial arrangements can be made.
A FATALITY. AUCKLAND, This Day
A lad named Vincent McQuire was driving’a butter delivery van, when the horses bolted and the van capsized. McGuire was so severely injured that he died at the hospital seven hours later. A. companion on the van jumped before it capsized and escaped with minor injuries.
