LEAGUE OF NATIONS
r*PBTRAUAN it N.Z CABLE ASSOCIATION! GERMAN PROTEST. (Received This Day at 9.45 a.m.) LONDON, November 25 The Australian Press Association correspondent at Geneva reports it is likely when the Assembly meets to-morrow, that Mr Millen will withdraw his motion relative to the German protest. Mr Millen’s first view was openly to
challenge the document in the Assem-
bly, but other forces’ are working to dispose of the document in a less ostentatious manner, in which Australia’s interests arte preferred, without the risks attending the open challenge.
There is no general desire to give the ■*/ document importance by undue prominence. Those who understand the German mentality, realise that eoup'cd with the Gretek situation, Germany is losing no opportunity of entering a protest against either the mandates or the Peace Treaty, in the hope of gaining a. future advantage. The League will probably take steps to prevent Ger.many saving later that her protest was . received without the accuracy of her arguments being challenged. The correspondent adds—“l learn France’s obstruction of the mandates are being regarded as a piece of diplomacy. She wanted an amendment of her mandates regarding the free use of coloured troops. Britain made some objection upon which France raised an objection to colonial mandates, thereby, creating the basis for actual negotiations with Britain.
