'file latest in regard to Ireland is that the Government have issued a proclamation authorising the enrolment of special constables in 'Belfast and also in County Tyrone. ! This is the first application of the Government’s latest scheme. Under this plan ten thousand men will be enrolled in Belfast. SENTENCED TO DEATH. FOR SHOOTING SOLDIER. LONDON, November 1. Revin Barry, an eighteen year old boy, is to die to-day unless reprieved He is a Si llll Feiner. He has been condemned to death for murdering a soldier in Dublin. He was discovered under a lorry with an automatic pistol in his hand. This was after a. volley had been fired. Th e volley killed three soldiers. One of the soldiers is stated to have been aged nineteen and another twenty. The youth will be hanged to-day, unless reprieved. Archbishop Walsh and the Lord Mayor of Dublin have finite rvfew'edf Marshal French, and pleaded for a reprieve on the ground of his youthful age. Hundreds of people are praying outside Mountjoy gaol to-night. i .. | NO REPRIEVE. LONDON, November 1. ' Lloyd George at midnight, informed the Lord Mayor of jPark, that the Government declined to reprieve the youth Barry, who is a medical student and the first reputed Sinn Feiner to he convicted of murder. , THE PENALTY PAID. (Received This Day at 8.30 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. I. Barry was executed. Nine huod:ed people prayed outside Mountjoy gaol. Two armoured cars were present. The people dispersed when the bell ceased tolling.
