OKARITO AND AVATAROA STOCK SALES. The annual Spring Stock Sales at the above yards were held on Monday and Wednesday last by Messrs W. Jeffries and Co., and in spite of the unpleasant weather conditions prevailing on both days there was a good attendance of buyers, and competition was spirited for all lines offered. A noticeable feature of the sales was the splendid condition, of all the big cattle yarded—most of which needed, very little to finish them for beef. Only 126 head of far south cattle came forward from Messrs Harris Bros and Mulvaney Bros, and they sold well. Several good pens of bullocks from the AV a taro a district met with keen competition, and in this connection -Air Jas. Donovan’s yarding of 20 forward three-year-olds made the top price of £lB 15s, and a line of 24 similar cattle for Gibb Bros made £lB. At Okarito a'line of yearling steers and heifers made £4 Os.
