RUSSIAN MIX-UP.
(By Electric Telegraph—Coiyrigut.) A GERMAN MOVE. RIGA, Oct. 27. Armed Monarchist force of 12,000 “White Guards” is being mobilised in East Russia, whence troops are being transported to Lithuania for the purpose of junctioning with the Bavarians and overthrowing the Republic, The Lithuanian Government has resigned and a dictatorship under Chieswicins, who is a pro-Bolshevik and antiPole, is being established. BRITAIN AND RUSSIA. LONDON, Oct. 26. Replying in the House of Commons to a question by Sir W. Davies, Mr Bonar Law stated that information the Government had received from Soviet Russia, gave them reason to believe that arrangements were being made for the immediate release of British prisoners in-Russia. The first party of Russians in Britain would leave on Oct. 27th. He hoped they would shortly be exchanged on the Polish frontier for about thirty Britishers including members of the Military Mission. It was hoped also that an exchange of prisoners at Baku would be made for three hundred Russians from Egypt and Constantinople. RUSSIA’S PLIGHT. (Received This Day at 9.45 a.m.) COPENHAGEN, Oct. 26. Lenin, in a newspaper article, says the Republic had never before, faced such a serious crisis, owing to the scarcity of food. Moscow and other workers centres were absolutely starving. It was necessary to use force against peasants to obtain food. AH opposing the Republic must he sent to concentration camps and 1 punished.
