The squad of eight Sinn Fein volunteers who left Ireland with the intention of acting as the body-guard to the late Mayor McSweeney l s remains were arrested wlren they landed in England at Fishguard. They wore their Republican uniforms under theiir overboats. They were not allowed to proceed,- hut were placed on a ship and sent hack to Dublin. DE VALERA’S TRIBUTE. • WASHINGTON, October 26. The Sinn Fein President og the Irish Republic, Mr Eamonn De Valera has issued a statement on the death of McSweeney. He eulogises the decease! Lord Mayor in his steadfastness. He also denounces the action of the British Government towards Ireland .=nd the Sinn Feiners in prison. THE VERDICT. (Received This Day at 9.45 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 27. The verdict on McSweeney, was that .death was due from heart failure due to dilated heart, acute delirium and scurvy due to exhaustion by prolonged abstinence from food.
