[rEB PBESS ASSOCIATION. —COI’YBIGHT.J THE COUNCIL. Tile Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. WELLINGTON, Oct. 26. The Land Laws Amendment and Explosive Goods Amendment Bills were recoived from the House and read a first time. Sir F. Bell moved that tho Gaming Amendment Bill be recommitted with a view to reinstating clauses empowering a commission to recommend increased totalisator permits. After a debate the Bill was recommitted by 16 to 10 and the clauses formerly strueft out were then restored by 15 to 10. The Bill "ivas then reported with amendments and passed. The Council rose at 4.55 p.m. and resumed at 8 o'clock wjien t|ie Council put through Committee [he Municipal Corporations Amendment, with the exception of one clause/ The Council rose at 10.16 p.ni. THE HOUSE. . The House nfet at 2.30 p.m. The Mining Amendment Bill was taken in Committee and passed through the remaining stages without amendment. A motion by Mr Holland to strike out Clause 10 extending the time hi which, installations of water drills could be completed, was defeated by 38 to 16. The Coal Mines Bill was also put through the remaining stages and passed. The House rose at mid-niglit.
