WESTPORT SALE YARDS. ■McMahon and Lee held a spring sqle of store cattle at the above yards on Thursday last, The yarding comprised 240 head of fat and store cattle and 64 fat sheep. There was a representative attendance of. buyers from all parts of the Westport district, only one ouside buyer being present. Fat cattle yarded realised ruling market prices, but the demand for store cattle was slack. Springers met with poor competition, chiefly on account of poor condition. The following prices were realised: — 2 fat bullocks at £l6, 1 at £l2 7s 6a, 1 at £l2, 1 at £ll, 2 at £lO 10s, 1 at £8 7s 6d, 1 fat cow at £l6 12s 6d, 1 fat ■heifer at £l3 ss, 4 three and four-year-old store bullocks at £ll 6s, 3 three-year-old store bullocks £lO 7s 6d, 18 three-year-olds at £9 15s, 9 three-year-olds-at £9, 2 two-year-old store bullocks at £7 10s, 3 two-year-olds £6 7s 6d, 3 store cows at £7, 4 two-year-old heifers at £4 15s, 1 at £4 2s 6d, cow and calf at £ll, cow and calf at £B, 1 Holstein bull at £lO, 1 springing heifer at £5, 1 yearling heifer at £4 10s, 30 fat sheep at 465, 34 fat sheep at 425, 15 two-year-olds at £5 10s. A good number of lines passed were subsequently sold privately. / The next sale will take place about the end of November. ARAHURA FAT sfoCK SALE. At yesterday’s lortnightly sale at the above yards the entries totalled 90 head of very prime cattle from South Westland, for which there was spirited competition throughout the sale at prices a shade lower than those ruling at the last fixture.
