(Reuter’s Telegram.) GOMPERS AGAINST REPUBLICANS. NEW YORK, Oct. 17. Mr S. Gompers, in a statement, asserted America would pass through four years of reaction if the Republican candidate for the Presidency, Senator Harding, were elected President. He claimed Senator Harding had not taken a stand for progress on any one .great issue.
THE COMING ELECTION, deceived This Day at 8 a.m.) NEW YORK, October ’B. 121 prominent Republicans have announced they will vote for Mr Cox because Mr Handing repudiates the best traditions of the Republican Party, di-o to his stand regarding the League. According to a Chicago telegram, Will Haye, Chairman of the Republican National Committee has predicted that Mr Harding will win the northern ; nd western States, and a considerable number of the Southern States which since the civil war have been notably democratic. Mr Harding will probably receive between 378 and 395 electoral yotes of the 531 total. The American voting system provides for citizens in weh State voting for the College of Electors, which in turn chooses the successful candidate.
