fAUSTRALIAN & N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION] AUSTRALIAN JOCKEY CLUB. SYDNEY, Oct. 6. The third day of the A.J.C. Spring Meeting took place to-day. The weather was fine, and there was a big attendance. The fields were poor and small. Poitrel was defeated in the Craven Plate, and this was a surprise, though Greenstead (the winner), commanded considerable support. The latter equalled Cettinge’s record in 1918. Greenstead was again ridden by Connell. This was Poitrel’s first defeat in a weight for age race. Jack Findlay, who pushed Greenstead bo a head in the Epsom, seemed sore in the Suburban Handicap. Vespucci was favourably placed throughout in the Grantham Stakes, hut lacked a finishing dash. Aeon was bunched in the Gimcrack Stakes till the stand, when he moved up into third position; Following are the results:— SECOND HURDLE RACE,— Knight of the Spear 1, Sir Rep 2, Breastwork 3. AVon by 12 lengths. Time 4.445. CRAVEN PLATE.—Greenstead 1, Poitrel 2, Strathredol 3. AVon by three lengths. Time 2.45. This time equals the Australian record. SUBURBAN HANDICAP,—EIfacre 1, Kerwaka 2, Amberdown 3. AVon by a length and a half. Time 1.375. This time is within a quarter of a second of the record. GRANTHAM STAKES,—David 1, A'espucci 2, Prince Charles 3. AVon by a neck. Time 2.65. GIMRACK STAKES,—Furious 1, Even Song 2, Aeon 3. AVon by a length. Time 1.25. SYDNEY HANDICAP,— Pershore 1, Wnarewin 2, Laddie Blue 3. AVon by half a head. Time 2.365. CAULFIELD SCRATCHINGS. MELBOURNE, Oct. 6.
