MAGISTRATE'S COURT, KUMARA
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 6th. (Before T. E. Maunsell, Esq., S.M.T BYE-LAWS CASES. Two persons were 'ehatged with breaches of the Borough bye-laws, for allowing cattle to wander unattended in the streets. Convictions were recorded and fines of 10/- and costs 7/inflictod in each case. SHORT WEIGHT BUTTER. The Inspector of Public Health (Air Varney) charged the Kumara Dairy Factory Coy. Ltd., with a breach of the Food and Drugs Act in that they did sell butter in light weight packages. The evidence of Mr Varney showed that a number of packets were weighed and found to bo half an ounce short each. He pointed out that with their last season’s output the Company would benefit to th e extent of about c .wts., of a value of £-10. A conviction was recorded and a fine of 0"> 'and costs 7 j- imposed.
