The External Affairs Amendment Bill and Civil List Bill No 2 wer e received from the House and read a first time. Man-iage Amendment Bill No 3 v.-as on the motion of Hon. McGregor, postponed to this day week. Sir F. D. Bell moved the second reading of th e To Aroha. Crown Leases Bill. After a debate the second reading was carried by 24 to 6. The Military (Service Amendment, and .Valuation of Land Amendment Bills were put through the final stages and passed. . The adjourned debate on the Trento: Bill was resumed and concluded, the Bill being read a second time. The Council rose at 4.55 p.m. THE HOUSE. The House met at 2.30 p.m. The afternoon was taken up with formal business. At the evening sitting the House went into committee on Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Amendment Pill si. measure proposing to divide Otago Hospital District and create a separate district in South Otago. Considerable opposition to the Bill developed, principally on the part of Dunedin members. , At 2 a.m. Mr Horn moved the Bi! ! he committed that day twelve months. On a division this was lost by 37 t.- 9. The Bill subsequently passed all stages. The House rose at 3.5 a.m.
