AMUSEMENTS.

POLLARD’S PICTURES. “THE CllY OF THE WEAK/’ TO-NIGHT. The Cry of the Weak” starring I' anny Ward, the world favourite screen actress, is the latest vehicle for the exploitation of the superb histrionic latest of that wonderful emotional actress, 1* unity Ward. Miss Ward has perfect support in Frank Elliott, who plays most convincingly the role .of District Attorney Dexter. Wall-Whitman, as Judge Creighton, and Paul Willis as the erring hoy, Budd. The photoplay brings out the theme that one-half of the crimes committed to-day are really vengeance against the harshness of society, and that many criminals may be reclaimed if given the proper opportunity. There are some great basic and moral truths portrayed in entertaining fashions in Fanny Ward’s latest emotional vehicle, “The Cry of the Weak.” Without any “preaching” or “propaganda” this splendid motion picture will do an enormous amount of missionary work. It will open the eyes of the uncharitable who, like District Attorney Dexter in the play, think that “once a crook always a crook.” It will bring tears to the eyes of tenderhearted womanhood, it will hopefully suffuse the hearts of wrongdoers with a glow of feeling that here at last is a play of real life, true to life, an actual page from life itself. A great scenic by Out- j ing Chester will also be screened entitled “Getting Cassiar’s Goat,” supported by Pollard’s usual strong programme.

On Wednesday next Ivitty Gordon will be featured in a big World Film drama entitled “Mandarin’s Gold.”
