A nonparty division resulted in 27 to 14, in favour of the item. THE SOUTHERN CROSS. HOBART, Sept. 25. Further wreckage found establishes the fact that the Southern Cross was wrecked, possibly as the result of an explosion. The vessel was carrying a quantity of benzine. It is surmised that while distress signals were being fired, that the benzine ignited. Further search is being made. PECULIAR TRAIN TRAGEDY. (Received this day at 8 a.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 25 A remarkable railway tragedy aecurred. A goods train was travelling from Goidburn, when the engine suddenly parted from the tender, and the driver (Herman) and fireihan (Taylor), were thrown violently to the ground, both being killed. The engine, without a crew, travelled to the next station, where it pulled up. Trucks forming the train luckily stopped a few yards from the scene of the accident.
MISSING AIRMEN. MELBOURNE, Sept. 25. An aeroplane with Captain Stutt and Sergeant Daizell aboard, which is searching for the missing schooner Amelia J, is also missing, and fears are entertained for the safety of the airmen. DENIED BY MR HUGHES. SYDNEY, September 26. Mr Hughes denies that the Commonwealth has sold 100,000 tons x>f coal to New Zealand.
