Thoughts For The Times.

Jilt. Wilford’s Hit. The real reason why the Liberal party was beaten at the last.election was that Extreme Labour nominated men who had no hope, and he believed the Reform party assisted those Extreme Labour people. Extreme Labour men were not wanted, as could be gauged from the result of the recent Wellington City Council election, when the extremists put up one of their strong men and saw him heavily defeated. Mr Wilford was a. good Parliamentarian and he bustled the Government the other day when he secured a dead-heat in a division. In cricket parlance he not only hit the ball out of the ground, but nearly damaged the pavilion clock.— Dr. Thacker M.P.
