NELSON DEFEATS COAST. NELSON, Sept. 22. -At Rugby football, Nelson defeated the West ponst by 21 points to six. The following Duller team has been chosen to play against West Coast' on Saturday next: —Full-back, Casey; three-quarters. Friend, Corby, Griffiths; five-eighths, Fitzsimmons, Paine; half, Young; wing forward, T. O’Neill; forwards, Ryan, J. Mumm, McLean, Schadick, Coppersmith, Walshc and! Mears. Emergencies —Henderson, Samuel, Brown and Colvin. SOUTHLAND Y. SOUTH CANTERBURY. INVERCARGILL, Sept. 22. The representative match Southland v. South Canterbury, was played here to-day resulting in the defeat of the visiting team by 31 points to 12. Ihe ground was in good order, but a strong wind made play somewhat difficult. In the opening spell Southland rattled on points and were able to hold their lead through. South Canterbury made strong efforts during the second spell.
