(Per Press Association.) DEATH OF ROBERT WOSFORD. PALMERSTON N., Sept. 22. The inquest on the body of Robert Dudley Worsford, .who died in the hospital on Sept. 6th., following a collision with a motor ear, was concluded today. The Coroner .returned a verdict that Worsford died as the result of a shock caused by being run over by a. inotor car driven by T. H. Davidson. The Coroner said he could not altogether absolve Davidson from blame, but in view of the fact that further proceedings might be taken lie would not comment oil the evidence.

FLOODS IN CANTERBURY. KAIKOURA INUNDATED. CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 12. Steady rain set in shortly after noon yesterday, and it continued without interniissio ntill 6.30 o’clock to-night. A fall of nearly 2£ inches has been recorded in the city and more in the country. All the rivers are running high, and the creeks on the Peninsula and elsewhere arc in flood. It is reported that a l,arge number of lambs have been last. At Kaikoura, Lyall Creek overflowed the western end of the township. All stocks in the shops not raised above floor level were damaged. A gang of men opened up the mouth of the creek, and allowed the water to get away, thus relieving the situation. Slips have blocked traffic north and south in the Kaikoura district. Several inches of snow fell on the back country stations. At Akaroa 5.72 inches of rain fell in 24 hours. PROFITEERING. DUNEDIN, Sept. 22. Throe charges, alleging the offence commonly known as profiteering, are set down to come before the City Police Court at Dunedin. The charges relate to a geography book, a kitchen table, and a skein of wool. The informations are on the ground that these articles were, sold at unreasonable high prices. The charge against the bookseller will be heard on October Ist and the other two on October 4th.
