THE BALBRIGGAN HOW. (United Service Telegrams). (Received This Day at 1.5. p.m.) LONDON, September 22. The “Evening News” Dublin correspondent reports trouble at Balriggan began by constables, including the Burke brothers visiting an hotel. A dispute occurred and the visitors were Risked to leave. When they refused, ■* volunteers were summoned and they, repeated the request. A disturbance (followed. It is unknown who fired first, but the Burke’s were shot down. Later lorry loads arrived to take revenge and two men, Lawless and Gibbons were dragged out of their houses when they refused to give their names to a. volunteer officer, they were placed against a wall and shot and bayonetted. A doctor was attending Lawless who was still living when the revengers returned and finished him. Th£ correspondent adds that the whole town is now a smoking ruin. The crimes appalled the people accustomed as they are to violence.
