WELLINGTON, Sept. 21

The Committee report in the Civil List Bill was presented to the House of .Representatives to-day. The Committee recommended that the following list of payments should be adopted: — Speaker of Legislative Council, £800; Chairman of Legislative Council, £450; Speaker of House of Representatives, £1000; Chairman of Committees of House of Representatives £700; members of Legislative Council £350; members of House of Representatives £SQO; the payments to be made from tlie date of election of the members of the House and in the case of members of the Legislative Council from the same date, or the later date of their individual appointment. The Committee also recommends that a fund be created by an annual allocation for the purpose of aiding ex-mem-bers and their families requiring assistance, applications to participate in such’fund to be dealt with by a committee consisting of the Prime Minister, tlie Leader of the Legislative Council, the two Speakers, and tlie Leader of the Opposition.

Another recommendation is that oxmembers Ai'ho have served for three Parliaments in either Chamber or conjointly in tivo Chambers, shall be aliened t 0 retain their raihvay pass ivitli the privileges attaching therefore. Finally, the Committee recommends that the Leader of the Opposition be provided by the Government with a Private Secretary and typist to he appointed by the Speaker of the House. A suggested amendment will, if agreed to, give the Ministers of the Crown their bonarium in addition to their Ministerial salaries, which ivill mean another £SOO each per annum.
