THE COUNCIL. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m.

WELLINGTON, Sept. 18,

The Native Trustee Bill was read a second time and referred to the Native Affairs Committee.

The Council agreed to amendments made in the Licensing Bill. The War Regulations Continuance Bill was put through the final stages and passed. The Immigration Restriction Amendment Bill was received from the House an dread a. first time. The adjourned debate on Hon Gow’s motion that Government be asked to. postpone the operation of the Legislative Council Act, 1914, was resumed by Hon Jones. Hon Gow replied and on division motion it was agreed to by 23. to 5.

THE HOUSE. The House met at 2.30 p.m, Thp House proceeded to consider the Railway Estimates, £4,612,500, which were passed unaltered. Other votes • passed were State forests, £142,044; State coal mines account, £282,192; Land for Settlement Account, £11,331; public trustees account £980,557; Government insurance account £94,268; Government accident insurance account £9,100; State advances account, advances. to settlers branch, £368,950; advances to workers branch, £104,455; advance to local authorities branch, £105,770; Native Land Settlement account, £4,182; discharged soldiers’ settlement account, £250,000; War Expenses account, £3,416,700; housing accounts, £769,117 ; Nauru and Ocean Island account, £600,000; scenery preservation account, £14,111. > This completed the consideration of the Estimates and the House rose at 12.53 a.m. till 7.30 p.m. on Monday.
