Detectives are taking stricter measures to safeguard prominent men and public buildings. CIVIL WAR. LONDON, September 14. The Irish inilitaJry command has now ordered the wives of all the soldiers who are in Ireland to return to Britain This means placing the troops undoi active service conditions.

CORK SINN FEINERS. LONDON; September 14. There are a considerable number cf men who have been imprisoned in Cork on hunger strike as a protest against imprisonment without charge or trial. This (Tuesday) is the thirty-fifth day of the Sinn Feiners’ hunger strike in Cork gaol.

BOY HUNGER STRIKER. LONDON, September 14. Regarding the hunger strikers in Cork thp case of one, a hoy, is attracting special notice. Thp friends qf this youthful hunger striker, whose name is Hennessy, had made ft protest that he was guiltless of any charge and could prove an alibi as regards the one brought if only lie should choose .o •answer the charge. General Wills later held" a midnight court. He secured some evidence "e----garding Hennessy’s innocence. The friends generally of .the prisoner refused to appear before the court martial, not recognising jt ns a epurf.

ENGLISH CABINET’S AIM. LONDON, September 14. - The leaders of the Sjnn Fein movement have issued a striking statement to the people of Ireland. They state: The military in Ireland, acting in conjunction with certain members of the British Cabinet, have decided to break the Sinn Fein movement. The methods being adopted include the assassination of the members of Dail Eireann (the "Sinn Fein Parliament) • the arrest of hundreds of local leaders, and a further intensified campaign of terrorism against the Irish people.”

SINN FEINERS CAPTURE MAILS. LONDON, September 14. Some Sinn Feiners in Skibbereen cleverly Raptured some mails delivered by an aeroplane from Bantry. Thev marked a large circle in a field, and stood nearby in military uniforms. The aviajtor mistook the circle for a military sign and dropped the mail bags into it. The Sinn Feiners quickly placed the hags Into motor cars and disappeared.

AN IRISH APPOINTMENT (Received this day at 8 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 13. An additional assistant Under Secretary for Ireland is about to be appointed with an office at Belfast, who will deal with all problems arising in the six counties of Ulster. An "announcement will shortly be made with reference to the enrolment of well disposed citizens to assist t]ie authorites.
