A BIG STRIKE WANTED. (Received this day at 8 a.m.) OTTAWA, Sept. 12. According to a message from Calgary, the one big union convention received a cablegram from Robert Smillie demanding simultaneous action with English miners to bring about a general strike on 28th September. The convention will appoint a Council to consider the matter. Both Alberta and Nova Scotia miners have been advised regarding Smillie’s message.

She and her husband had been doing a round of Paris gaeitie-s. Her nerves broke down. Jack Pickford repudiates the statement that his wife committed suicide.

The number of people killed bv the recent earthquake is estimated at least et five hundred. Over twenty thousand are homeless. One iof the estimates puts the deaths at fourteen thousand GERMAN CROWN FRINGE. CONSTANTINOPLE!, September 10.
