The annual general meeting of the Hokitika Lawn Tennis Club will ho held on Thursday evening next, at 7.39 p.m., at the Education Board room. Mr George Falla, who has been stationmaster at Auckland since February 1915, will retire from the service in December. The funeral of the late Thomas Bath was held yesterday afternoon. There was a numerous attendance including the officers and brethren of the local Masonic lodges. The members of the Kilwinning Lodge, N.Z.C. attended under Bm R. F. Ward W.M., and included also Rt. W. Bro. H. L. Michel. The Masonic service was read by 'Rt. W. Bro. Steer of Greymouth, and W. Bro. Cochrane, of the District Grand Lodge was Marshal. The church service at All Saints as also at the graveside was conducted by the Revd. Purchas. The late Mr Bath was 1 one of the pioneer goldminers of the Coast having been on the Kumara and Riniu fields at the time jf their inception.

The ball in Rimu last Monday night in aid of the Diggers’ I'ootball Club proved ai great success, both financially and otherwise, the dancing space being taxed to its utmost capacity. The was tastefully decorated with greenery, flags, and the colours of the Club. Dancing was kept going merrily until the small hours of the morning to the excellent music supplied by the Knowles Orchestra, while Mr Tony Boyd had charge of the floor and carried out his duties in his usual happy style. Mr W. D. Mackay and Mr Bart Dowell thanked those persent, especially the ladies concerned for making the evening the splendid success it undoubtedly was. Mr J. Naneekivell also said a few words on behalf of the Club. Musical items were rendered by Messrs B. Dowell, Owen Johnson and F. Curtayne.
