(Our Parliamentary Correspondent.)
the. Estimates. WELLINGTON, Sept. 10. Tlie Hbufee rejected Mr Sidey’s amendment hy 38 votes, to 14. It was a. .very mixed diyison ansi there was loud laughter when members noticed that Mr Massey and Mr Holland were both violating election pledges by voting together against the amendment. The Education Estimates were discussed from 3 p.m. to 1.10 a.m. The House put through the Mines Estimates in one minute, Mr Massey having stated that a Govern- | ment bill dealing with mining matters would provide an opportunity for debate later in the session. . I The Cook Island Estimates kept the | House for eight minutes, chiefly because Dr Pomare was missing himself .at first. ! and then could not find his notes.
