FIRE' AT OAMARU. OAMARU, September 4
A destructive fire occurred this morning in the large building of the North Otago Farmers Co-op. Association. The fire was discovered shortly after threo o’clock. The brigade responded promptly to the alarm, but the fire had obtained a strong hold on inflammable goods with which the building was istocked. With a splendid pressure of water, some hours were occupied in subduing the flames. The scone of tho outbreak was a recent addition to the main building, and included a largo showroom and some other departments of the general business. To that part which comprised a little more than a, third of the main structure, the fire was confined, fireproof doors' between the two parts greatly aiding the efforts of the Brigade. The amount f . loss cannot be ascertained as yet but the insurance over the building and stock is stated to be about £49,000.
