[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. —COPYRIGHT. J THE COUNCIL. WELLINGTON, Sept. 1. The Legislative Council'met at 2.30 p.m. \ The War Regulations Continuance Bill was received from the House and read a first time. MOTION OF SYMPATHY. Sir F. Bell referred to the tragic death of the Leader of the Opposition, and spoke of the modesty coupled with marked administrative ability displayed by the deceased. THE HOUSE. Immediately on the House meeting at 2.30 p.m, Hon W. F. Massey moved tho customary resolution of sympathy and condolence with the family of the late Hon MacDonald. The motion was spoken to by Messrs Wilford, Sidey, Sir W -Herries, Messrs Hanan, Ngata, Lys nar, Hockley, Veitch, Holland, Forbes, Sullivan and Isitt. On the motion being passed, the House rose at 3.35 p.m. till 2.30 p.m. to-morrow as a mark of respect to the memory of the deceased member.
