THE COUNCIL. WELLINGTON, Aug. 28. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. The business taken was the Imprest Supply Bill passed by the House which was put through all stages. The Council tU.en adjourned at 2.40.

V THE HOUSE. The House met at 2.30 p.m. The formal business lasted only a few minutes The House then went into committee of supply to further consider the Estimates. The first class taken was Department £550,593, An amendment by Mr Holland that the note be reduced by £1 as indication that economy was necessary, was, defeated by 43 to 9. The vote then passed after ten hours’ discussion, Other votes passed were Customs, Marine and Harbours £257,933 and Labour £40,589. The House rose at 1.30 a.m.
