HOLMES BEATS VOLAIIH

Harry Holmes, of Australia, and Eugene Volaire of France, met here last night in a 15-round light-weight boxing contest for a purse of £250, under the auspices of th e Hamilton Boxing Association. Both men were in the pink of condition, and a fast and clever exhibition resulted. Every round was full of vigor, the close work being of a strenuous nature. i
Holmes showed up well in (he close work, and otherwise be proved a very elusive customer in general.
The persistent Volaire was always*in he reckoned with, however, for a hard punch, hut he never succeeded in landing it. Thus Holmes won a majority of the rounds on points, and the Australian earned tho verdict, in a good, clean, clever contest.
